Officials Criticize Presidential Hopeful For 'Irresponsible' Comments on Military Strikes

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Aug. 3, 2007

(AP) Pakistan criticized U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama on Friday for saying that, if elected, he might order unilateral military strikes against terrorists hiding in this Islamic country.

Top Pakistan officials said Obama's comment was irresponsible and likely made for political gain in the race for the Democratic nomination.

"It's a very irresponsible statement, that's all I can say," Pakistan's Foreign Minister Khusheed Kasuri told AP Television News. "As the election campaign in America is heating up we would not like American candidates to fight their elections and contest elections at our expense."

Considering that Bush has refused to do that and AQ has set up a safe haven inside of Pakistan, I'm not so sure that is a bad idea at all. Clearly not doing that has not gotten the job done. All you have to do is look at the most recent NIE to know that.

If I were President and had actionable intel on Bin Laden's (or other high value targets') wereabouts inside the nation, I would not hesitate to go after them.

We know Bush had that intel and did not go after Zawahiri. How's that working out?

Funny to me that the right is now in the position of defending not going after AQ where ever they are. We went after them were they weren't. But, going after them where they are is off of the table? WTF?

I think that the right is scared that unlike Bush, Obama might actually do something and if AQ is still holed up in Pakistan when he takes office in January 2009, I hope he does do something. Eight years on the run and scaring folks and threaten our safety is long enough, don't you think.

So far over 500 Pakistani soldiers have died fighting in this area to suppress terrorists and find Osama.

You continue to lie and distort the truth to support your sick paranoid effort to impugn this administration and support the terrorists you claim you want brought to justice. Let�s face it DA, you don't want Osama found. As long as he is free, you can continue your campaign of stupidity which asserts that this administration is doing nothing to find Osama.

However, if they do find him, or that he is dead, I am sure you will find some other paranoid premise to continue your campaign of ignorance.

You two must be having a group think session; I read the joint statement and didn't see anything remotely as stupid as what Obama said.

I suggest you BOTH read it and then, perhaps I missed it, post here where Bush stated he would unilaterally go into Pakistan to find Osama.
