New Hampshire Announces 2008 Presidential Primary Held Yesterday

New Hampshire fired a deciding shot in the skirmish to decide what state would kick off the 2008 primary decision by announcing that its 2008 Presidential Primary was held yesterday.

According to an unnamed source in the New Hampshire Secretary of State's office, "Turnout was a bit lower than we expected."

The quick election was the latest in a series of moves this past week between states vying to be the first test of 2008 presidential candidates. Earlier in the week South Carolina moved its primary to January 19. That move gave birth to speculation that New Hampshire might move its primary to an earlier date in January. Iowa, in turn, threatened to move its caucuses into December 2007.

"I guess they felt that this was the only way to settle it," one New Hampshire resident said.

Vote tallies for the primary election will not be available until after Labor Day because New Hampshire's head vote counter had just left the state. An un-named source said that Doris Chad had just left the for a three week trip to California where her son is to be married.
