Finally.

I'm still haunted by that afternoon in the schoolyard in '78. I was tagged "it", but being a small geeky child with spindly legs I was never able to tag someone else to be "it". I believe it was the source of that C- I received in Algebra in 9th grade. I might have been a astronaut...an astronaut...

Banning tag is the wrong answer, but I can see why it was done. Kids get hurt on the playground. Guess who their parents take it out on? The adults running the school (teachers, etc). Parents can sue if they want to. I can see the school's viewpoint here. It would be better to address the students who are hurting other kids in the game though because those same kids will be too rough with other games as well IMO.

Yup, if we didn't have such a sue happy society, I would think that we wouldn't have to have all these silly rules.

I could agree with you if we were talking about physical injuries here, but it sounds more like they don't want anyone to get their feelings hurt. This is just plain stupid. Parents need to try to do a little parenting for a change instead of asking society to conform for their kids. Todays kids don't know what they are missing!!

No doubt - always a good time clotheslining people in Red Rover. I mean hell, dodgeball and nation ball were the shit, but I think what it's come down to is the ADHD kids vs. the non-ADHD kids. You have the hyper ones who won't shut the fuck up and will keep bugging kids which turns into fights, etc... It starts to be more of a nuisance than fun.

People act like the fights are all bad. They have to learn it at some point. Never heard of nation ball, but yea dodgeball was great and I can't recall anyone getting hurt at all, except for their egos!!
It was the quiet kids that I always worried about. I figured the once that wouldn't shut up were all talk. Maybe a good beat down might be a prescription for them adhd kids instead of all the drugs they give em these days!

Who is in charge of all this a buncha grown up nerds and dorks?

What is this world coming too? If you cant play tag whats next Duck Duck Goose?

People are idiots and kids today are coddled little babies. Every kid should know what it feels like to lose, to get hurt, to miss, to get cut, that builds character.

Life aint fair, get over it and its not preparing children for the real world. Whats gonna happen when they grow up? ADHD is a myth, kids need to run around and play and get that energy out -- not sit around with playdoh and share.

They care too much about "feelings" in the schools these days.

And all these kids are going to grow up to be a bunch of whining pantywaists.

And probably become Democrats.

And in the past 10 years or so, the abolishing of 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, etc in school contests because the poor little kiddies will get their feelings hurt if they actually experience LOSING! So the school districts and teachers are all pussified, too.

I get more and more pissed at schools every single year. Kids are not allowed to be kids anymore. I can't take it!!

Everything I post is my opinion! So !

Not a Liberal, not a Conservative, not a Democrat, not a Republican........just a realist with an opened mind.

When these kids graduate, hiring them is going to be a real bitch. I don't want to have to deal with them crying if they don't get the job or crying if the situation doesn't go their way.
