Ahh they are old ones....
There was a time when the media actually thought about what was good for the country in selecting the stories they printed (before TV & before TV was widespread) They didn't care about JFKs girlfriends, nor Hoover having a "boyfriend" & didn't see any purpose in telling about it. I think maybe when the media found that they were lied to on things that absolutely effected all of us, the media moved in & the rest, as they say, is history.
Nobody gives a damn anymore except the people that have no power & we can't stop it, the media nor gov't.
Just my opinion.

People like Ron Paul threaten put the Hannitys of the world out of business. In other words, the Ron Paul approach to issues knows no party lines and political affiliations, rather, it deals with the issues alone without throwing partisan lines up.

A divided America is good for people like Hannity- it's what they cater to. IF Americans put the partisanship aside and look at issues alone, Hannity wouldn't have a job.

Partisanship creates poison and spreads it to others so the partisan can feel right about their own point of view.

Partisianship isn't a bad thing, the way it's portrayed is a bad thing. If all the politicians agreed or all of the American people agreed, we wouldn't have different party platforms. We need debate but we need debate on important matters, not what some old man did in a bathroom, nor some old woman's safety pantyhose.

I disagree 100%.

Difference of opinion from issue to issue makes for a healthy political climate and encourages new ideas by pushing people to think and use their brains.

Partisanship encourages thinking with boundaries- in essence, taking a particular stance because your label (Republican, democrat, etc) tells you to. Never mind why.. that doesn't matter in partisanship- all that matters in this simpleton line of thinking is that 'I'm right" and "you're wrong". This is a detachment from reality. Partisanship doesn't solve problems, it perpetuates them.

Partisanship and disagreement are two completely different things.

While what you say may be correct, the overlying issue is that the US has a two party system, and with that will come partisanship. Until there is a change to the system as a whole, partisanship is here to stay. The only way to change it would be for multiple new parties to emerge that could actually put enough people into Congressional seats to sway important political decisions. Currently there doesn't appear to be a desire to create any changes to the system.

Exactly. I agree with just about everything you said.

And I disagree.

Maybe read the post again. Partisanship and disagreeing aren't the same thing.

So you have nothing against either partys platform?

The very opposite- I have problems with the Republicrat platform- not to mention both parties are essentially the same for the most part.

Both parties take money from the same lobbyists. Both parties increase the size of an already bloated federal government year after year. Both parties use "election issues" to make you think they will bring change, but these issues are only meant to get you to the polls.

The two parties and their "differences" with each other are merely an illusion by and large, because they share more similarities than differences. Their strategy- keep the people divided in partisanship amongst themselves to make them think there is a difference, then sit back as the Republicrat machine is invested in by lobbyists. As well, plenty of things can get shrouded in a massive, opaque federal government, which they increase in size all the time, costing the taxpayer more and more money year after year.

There is plenty more to discuss about this, but it would take awhile.
