What about the guy who is third string and went to Stanford. He is now 10 years behind in the world and broke. They get paid in proportion to how much revenue they bring in.
I agree they are paid too much, but it's not our money that is being given to them unless we choose to give it to them.

That guy should have gotten a degree at Stanford. Athletes are no different than us. They have a special talent is all. No different than a good educator has a special talent for that. If these athletes really did it for the purpose of entertaining us, there may be a touch more validity in it. But no, they do it for themselves and for the money. Do you think Derek Jeter would be teaching if the salaries were reversed? We will never know, but I betcha many ballplayers may have just finished that degree if the money was elsewhere.
Do you think the third stringer really brings a million bucks fo revenue in?
I do not feel sorry for him. Ten years behind in the world? Come on, he's doesn't have to be any more behind than you or I. Look at Shaq, he's a good example. He is a multi-millionaire athlete and planning a career after basketball. They all have the ability to do that.

If you are third string, you got your degree. No moron is going to leave early to go that low in the draft.
But, again, how much they get paid is none of our business. Professional sports organizations can choose how they allocate their revenue in any way they see fit. It was never our money, unless we gave it to them voluntarily.

She must be a college professor. I know no k12 teacher that makes 59k a year. In fact I would say she is getting payed to much compared to other teachers. She may of called human services or something demanding more money. Or it could be different wages then arizona.

And that's the best thing to do.
I always say that even if a child is going to Public School or even Private School, if the parent is not involved in their child's education and understanding of, well, everything, then the child could be lost. Alot of parents rely on a school and its teachers to raise their child; that is stupid.
And, hell, I don't know about the rest of you parents, but knowing what my daughter is being taught and helping her understand also refreshes my mind as to what I had forgotten since my school days AND helps me learn the NEW resources and information children receive. So it works for both of us!

Re: Terrible, just terrible.
Some of it just pisses me off. They have all these new stupid ways of teaching math that are so impractical. They don't even use it within the same school after 7th grade, so why teach it that way at all. It has to be confusing for my daughter to learn one way at school and come home and me teach her a different way and tell her that I expect her to use the way I taught her when she goes back to class!!

Re: Terrible, just terrible.
Yeah, I find myself telling my daughter, "But that's not the way I learned it." And then having to try to teach her my way while also learning her teacher's way just to give her an edge. And me, too, I guess....

Barrington, Il. 2nd grade
Barrington is a higher paying district. She is an exceptional teacher with a master's degree plus and she shopped around for a district that would pay well when she was interviewing. She is on multiple committees and spends easily 60 plus hours a week at work plus working during part of the summers.

That is not a just government, nor is property secure under it, where the property which a man has in his personal safety and personal liberty, is violated by arbitrary seizures of one class of citizens for the service of the rest.

But if they fail, the school fails, meaning the teachers fail, the staff fails, not the children. On top of it, the school is then cut less funding from the state... that is right, LESS FUNDING. And in worse cases, like 4 in Houston alone, schools are closed altogether.
You know what this says? This says "we Texas government have lost faith in our own education and are willing to cut you off if you fail my test." What fucking balls they have to do such a thing. If anything, these schools need more attention and help. How is laying off teachers and removing whole grades from your school improving the situation, and that comes down to money. Talk about pressure.
Public schools are a dying breed being killed by under funding and under supporting government. The community usually caves on fighting for any school because the government knows whats best.

Re: Terrible, just terrible.
i was away for awhile, so i'll address some things i noticed.
for one, it is EXTREMELY dumbed down in some cases. i'm in all Pre-Ap classes, and some of the material is just stupid. it sickens me.
the only reason that athletes are paid more is because entertainment is more popular than education, all because that's how the corporations want us to be; stupid ignorant people.
