The Contradiction that is Israel
It seems to me that Israel is very effective at spinning things in their favor. Has anyone noticed:
Israel claims to not target civilians, to only be trying to take out Hezbollah, which operates in the South, yet it has shelled Beirut, in the North, repeatedly. It has also targeted the civilian, international airport. . . . . again, how does this serve their purpose.

I just wrote something like this agreeing with you Vento in some other topic.
Even if a terrorist is using a human shield, is that a reason to blow them both up?
Most people generally want to prevent civilian death. Even if that means the terrorist gets away temporarily, they don't shoot.
Israel is incapable of letting their tactics work, or even be recognized, so they plow right along and kill hundreds of civilians.
And the terrorist is most likely not using a human shield, a woman or child. It could be that, if they are near a civilian, it is because the terrorists are themselves civilians: and they are

Isreal have bombed roads and airports in order to stop equipment and weapons being flown in from Syria.
With military opinion, this is standard practice.
It happens in every modern war to date...
Falklands
First and Second gulf wars
Afghanistan
Bosnia
Kosovo
Targetting infrastructure in Lebanon has a huge impact on terrorists. They cannot flee with large amounts of weapons and material which also cannot be driven or flown in to reinforce them. Without the bombing of airports and roads, this conflict will last much, much longer.
In command terms, it is known as the 'refill effect'. No matter how much wine you drink, it'll be topped off. If you want to stop getting drunk, you lock the cellar.

I agree with you Gecko, and that is why I think it was justfied to shut-down the highway to Syria.
However, surely they could have isolated the South from the North and left Beirut unscathed. Instead, they have tried a very stupid move, as if they haven't been dealing with Arabs for decades. They tried to us collective punishment to force Beirut to give up Hezbollah. This was not only a deplorable decision from a human rights perspective, but was also a disaster militarily. Have you ever heard of a 'rally 'round the flag mentalility', ie after 9/11 when Bush enjoyed record approval ratings? Well the same thing has happened for Hezbollah, they have only grown stronger because of this idiotic strategy by the Israelis.
I prupose that if Israel had limited targets to the southern border and called for aide from the Int'l community for help, that they would be a lot closer to doing away with Hezbollah.

Israel does everything they want to and nobody says anything (at least most of the times) one day they'll do something horrible and the world will develope another guilt complex, the second one.

I'm sorry but I read this as an emotionally characterised subjective prediction with little specifics?

If you read it that way maybe it is either because you know nothing about History, or because you are not a social Psychologist.
It is clear Europe feels guilty about the Hollocaust because in some ways we didn't stop it when we could. Jews always take out the antisemitism card in case you say you disaprove their actions as a country. It works quite good for them

This card deck is getting bigger every day. I wonder if people who play the race card are going to get jealous?
