Default Re: What is poverty?

The reason for poverty is our tax code. The fact is no matter how much aid you provide, that doesn't signficantly change how workers are paid. No one has ever seen our minimum wage laws become redundant, in that the minimum wage is so low that every business could pay their employees more than it. Instead, the government taxes businesses the same time they are requiring them to offer at least minimum wage. I believe it is morally wrong to tax income, whether it is high or whether it is low. The business should have the opportunity to rid of all their taxes as well as for their employees if they do not make profits, whether or not they are officially a non-profit organization.

So, when we talk about poverty and subsidies we are really discussing WHO gets the money- people or megacorporations.
You speak of "megacorporations" as if they were something separate from people, almost as if it were an entitity of its own. Actually, megacorporations are typically owned by millions of investors, all of which are people, and many of who depend on them for their livelihood.

Not to mention that the private sector does things clearly more efficiently than the government.
