Re: Pennsylvania Folks
The town of Freeland is essentially falling into mine shafts, can you blame the current Mayor of Freeland for that? That's been happening for over 100 years.
I read the local papers daily (Hazleton and Wilkes Barre) and I have never read anything about this until I googled it tonight. From what I have read, it is being taken care of, class action suits don't necessarily mean that the problem is getting worse, just that it exists and people want restitution.
In my old nabe in Brooklyn there was an Exxon gas leak in 1972 that has just been discovered and class actions have been filed only recently because it was not known until last year what this leak did to the area. Should we blame Bloomberg for that?

the facts are that both state and local GOP coffers backed both these jerks with tons of money, the voters told the GOP leaders to kiss off and elected Eichelberger, freckles are you old enough for a little smut, which would be part of the Jubelier fiasco.

Re: Pennsylvania Folks
Does anyone else object to being forced to pay the way for lazy welfare people? I pay about $160 every paycheck in taxes. These people collect welfare and social security and do nothing. If you collect SS for legitimate reasons, I have no problem with that. What I have a problem with is paying life support for those who choose not to work. Believe it or not, some people collect social security merely because they are too fat. You know what? GET OFF YOUR ASS AND MOVE!!!
Every time I pay out a tax dollar, I know most of it goes to support some welfare mother that has chosen not to work. I, and you, are paying for new cars, $400 rims on new Cadillacs and Lexus, cellphone bills, full medical insurance, $50 pants that don't fit, $100 sneakers, strollers that cost more than I spend on food in a week, food, cash, housing, and whatever else they want. The worst of it is, they don't pay a dime for any of it. Nor do they have to pay taxes every year on what they collect. Rather than work, they choose to overpopulate the city and collect money for free. And force me to support them. If you collect welfare, you have no business with a cellphone. You can't afford food or medical, but you sure can afford a cell? Please spare me the BS. Instead of paying a cellphone bill, why not buy some food or pay for a doctor visit? The same idiots will go to a food bank yakking on a cellphone. Put down the $50 a month phone and buy food with that cash. IDIOT. I go to the store and know it is welfare day when I see grocery carts so full of food that people can't see over the top of them. I make $12 an hour and can't afford the cars and food and medical and spare money these people can. DOESN'T ANYONE SEE A PROBLEM HERE!

My God!!! Someone who agrees. When I have more time, I will add to that. I had to get ready for work, to pay more welfare junkies, so I had to cut it short.

Wow. My heart is bleeding. I would do anything to only pay $160 every paycheck in taxes.

Actually, over 50% goes to defense spending.

Interesting. So you want them to get more so they can pay taxes on it? Besides, it depends on the type of aid. Unemployment is taxable.

Re: Pennsylvania Folks
You just don't seem to understand what I am trying to say here. Around here, if you are making more than minimum, you are doing very well. The taxes I pay are only on a normal work week. This doesn't count over time. We can work 16 hours a day if the hours are available. Normally, someone gets them. I got lucky and got OT this week. You don't want the gory details of how this works, trust me. Our area is mostly projects and elderly. Not to mention that the powers that be are trying to turn an industrial based town into a tourist trap. It isn't going to work. This town was built on industry. Long time corporations are leaving the area in droves. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the companies with over 300 employees that have left in the last 5 years. The problem I have lies with the county welfare department. They give these underage girls no motive to remove themselves from welfare. Girls have baby after baby, and are rewarded financially. But, to the dismay of thousands of displaced workers, some 30 year loyal employees, can't go get some help. Why is this? If you don't have children and work, or made any money in the last month, you get nothing. But I have heard(was sitting right next to the woman downtown)a person on a cellphone(they need to go away anyhow)telling someone she would call them back after she ordered the 4 NASCAR tickets, and then had to go see her caseworker to get her food stamps increased... So now do you see my gripe? Incidentally, I didn't opt for any of the money I earned to pay for defense spending either. Nobody asked me about it.

I would suggest moving to an area that is less depressed and actually has some industry.
