Most diseases can be considered an STD. The common cold can be transmitted sexually from one infected person to another, any contagious disease can be transmitted sexually, that point should be stressed as people won't readily admit that they may be candidates for any sexually transmittable disease and will most likely not be the first in line to get vaccinated, if they ever get the vaccine at all.
Once you classify anything as an STD it's considered dirty and no one wants to admit that they're susceptible to any STD or that they may already be infected.
Yeast infections in women (or even in men) can cause a bacterial infections in their partners and POOF, they've transmitted an STD.

I agree. Also, unless this has changed 100%, why is Viagra and similar drugs for men covered under insurance, but in some places birth control for women isn't covered under insurance? Why is Viagra advertised on TV and especially radio, but birth control, except for once in awhile (like on MTV) there is a condom commercial, isn't advertised at all?
So it seems across the board, if it has anything to do with women's sexual health, it's hush-hush and taboo, but if it has to deal with men's sexual health, it's "Go forth and multiply, men. Make as many babies as you can. It will be the women's burden, not yours." *and by the way, I'm serious. None of this is tongue-in-cheek* And yes I'm a man (but you guys already knew that !)

How true!! If a woman has an STD (or what is considered an STD) it's, "OMG you slut!!" If a man has a disease and passes it on to the woman, it's still "OMG you slut!!" Oh and forget about a woman becoming accidentially pregnant, it's still "OMG you slut, you got pregnant!?"
The burden of staying safe and "unpregnant" seems to fall on the woman: here ladies, get this vaccine so you can stop spreading this disease, here ladies, go out and get depo shots, or the pill or some silly do dad to stick up you're you know what, ladies make sure to carry a condom, make sure he puts it on, ARRRGH!! Men seem to get away with a lot of crap, for instance, a man leaves a woman and their child and it's expected, but God forbid a woman leaves her husband and her children she's a horrible mother, a horrible woman so on and so forth. I'm no feminist, but what's good for the gander had better be good for the goose.

OOOH and as far as the men having babies all over the place, if a man has more than one baby mama, he's a stud, but if a woman has more than one baby daddy, she's a slut and nasty and any other name you can throw at her.

How true! How true! Look at the celebrity news. It's like the entertainment news media brags along with the male entertainer about how many children he produced. Bobby Brown, Wilt Chamberlain, Kevin Federline, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Marlon Brando, etc..........all male sluts!
When I was 25 years old, one of my co-workers ask me how many kids I had. I told him none. He asked me (actually spt it to me in an condescending disdain manner) what was wrong with me and that he had three kids by the time he was my age. Actually puffing out his chest in that stereotypical manner. (Now this may or may not mean anything and I'm not saying all men are like this, but it was kind of funny him saying that to me because.........his daughter, 16 yrs old, was pregnant at the time; his oldest child, an 18 yr old boy was in jail; his youngest, a 13 yr old boy, seemed to me to be withdrawn and sad and confused; his wife had left him, went back to school and was making 3 times what he was; he had a girlfriend that worked at our company, who would come in with black eyes and visible bruises on her body (and she would tell us things like, "Oh I got hit in the eye by a badmitton birdie. Oh I fell off my chair. Oh, I ran into the doorknob. Oh, I ran into the wall. Oh I slipped off the curb." The usual excuses.) And this guy was a drug addict and a drunk, even during work. A couple of years later he was in a work release program from the local jail!)
Oh yes, he was such a stud and a role model for me! (Now that was tongue-in-cheek!)

Safer sex needs to be taught to EVERYONE, with safer sex, STDs can become a thing of the past.

Re: STD Vaccine for school girls?
I know a few guys with 3 or 4 baby mamas. One of them, this nasty joke Ralphie has a baby with a good friend of mine since Kindergarten (she was 15 when she get preggers), he has 5 babies, 4 baby mamas, she has 3 babies, 3 baby daddies. She and I have been good friends for a long time and SHE is the one people looked down on because of 3 kids, 3 dads, but NO ONE says boo about good old Ralphie with his 5 kids (he's 34, now). Oh, yeah, some of Ralphie's women have gotten abortions too, so he would probably have had 10 babies by now.
It's no excuse, but she did have a rough life, mom and dad died of AIDS by the time she was 14, bounced around from family member to family member, but she has a good head on her shoulders (now) and works a full time job and pays her own way in a nice apartment and her boys are great kids. One of the dads pays support and the other one is in jail. Good old Ralphie? He's a crack head crack dealer still living with his own mama and hardly pays support for any of his kids.

And no, it should not be mandatory.
But anyone who doesn't do it is a dumbass.
