LOL! No way! I never even heard of 'The Notorious B.I.G.'
I have laid the wit of the world at your feet, and you think the racist remarks of some local hood constitutes a famous quotation?

He was a rapper that was gunned down in 1997. Most beleive that it was a culmination of the feud between him and Tupac Shakur, who was gunned down 6 months earlier.
And the term "nigga" as opposed to "nigger" basically means guy or fella. It's a term of endearment.
Blacks basically have exlcusive rights to use of the word, for obvious reasons.
Watch this music video where the quote comes from and experience the greatness that is Biggee Smalls AKA The Notorious B.I.G. YouTube - The Notorious B.I.G. - Warning (Uncensored)

Thanks Zara, I didn't know about the 'nigga' thing, it's not prevalent in the circles where I hang. The 'coloured' people here, and in the UK, use much the same language as the rest of us.
I watched the video, and I don't want this to sound elitist, but the 'greatness' that is Biggee Smalls seems to have eluded me.
One of the subjects I am studying is music and musical structure, and as far as I could make out; he was simply talking to a repetitious beat.
It is usual for music to have tempo, melody and harmony. In addition to which, the classic sonata form (upon which most music, from pop to symphonic, is based,) comprises an exposition of the musical themes, a development of those themes, and finally, a recapitulation of those themes in fully developed form. This resolves the tensions provided by the development and is satisfying to the aural senses (a bit like an orgasm is satisfying to other senses, after the tensions of sex. )
The particular example of rap to which you introduced me, had only tempo provided by the beat. There were no other musical components or structure. It wasn't even good dance music. Sorry!

Music can evolve dude. People also once said that rock and jazz were not legitimate forms of music.
To me, music is whatever is fun to listen to.

That is true, but something becoming a lesser thing, is not evolution. And I am not commenting on personal tastes. I can't stand some forms of jazz, but I would not deny it is a highly evolved category of music.
Something being fun to listen to is not the arbiter of what is music. I love listening to the sound of F1 engines in full song, but I think there are very few who would regard the sound as music, in any meaningful sense of the term.

Depends on what you mean by becoming a lesser thing. If it becomes simpler, but sounds better, I consider that evolving.
I like rap, well more of the old school rap, because everytime I listen to it I want to bob my head with the rhythm, and that is fun.
Plus, you can rap along to the song and pretend your dr. dre or snoop dogg.
