The whole reason we can't prove a religion is because if we could it wouldn't be religion it would be science. What is the point of having loyal followers if it is 100% FACT that nothing else but you is right?

Re: Evolution v. Creation
If you want a strict yes or no answer to your question, than...yes we came into existance because of the big bang and evolution.
but than thats so hard to explain with, 'it happened this way, no questions please.'
The universe existed before the big bang, it had to have or the first law of thermodynamics means nothing. The big bang was slimply, what you would call a growth spurt in human terms. An expansion of space that with the help of gravity, heat, and gases helped form into starts and planets. This isnt evolution though.
while evolution is merely a biological term for species changing over time, the big bang is a physics term. these two can not be interchanged.
Evolution, which as an atheist and avid supporter of it, i will be the first to admit that we dont know a damn thing about evolution, especially our own. We dont know if theres a common gene in all species that someone pushes them to grow to become better or if, if, there is a god or another species that did this to us.
Evolution is the best theory we have at the moment to explain why certain species change over time. and if i can say something, its not really hard to understand or agree with. really, all it says is a species will change to survive in its enviroment. i.e. an elephant will grow hair to survive during the ice age. a wholly mammoth. certain birds will grow different beaks to break through tree trunks but the same bird could live on another continent with a different beak.

Not necessarily. Not if it isn't the only universe in existence, which is what I contend.

Re: Evolution v. Creation
I have two views on this topic. First, I have a hell of a time believing that people evolved from apes, or for that matter, all that exsists began as a big pea soup. So as for the big bang, I think we need to keep trying...
As for creation... sure. There could be a supreme being that waved his magic wand and *poof* there it is. But if I have to believe in God, then I also have to follow all the rules and whatnot that it takes to keep from going to hell. And if I do that, then what I have seen is, I will have to be a hipocrate, moleste little boys, and hate homosexuals.
The problem for me is not how. I really do not care how we came to be. We are here, and what we do with our lives now will definately decide what happens after we are gone. If I live my life based on evoloution and science, then I must admit that when I die I will cease to exsist. If I believe in God and Creation, then I must accept that when I die I will most likely be tortured for eternity because there is no possible way for me to not sin.
Truth be told... I would rather both choices be wrong, and someone will come up with something friendlier soon... maybe like... the world was created by a hippy who, under a drug-induced daze, decided to set off a huge firework and BAM! The big bang happened. But it is ok, because when we all die, there will be a big Woodstock in the Sky for us to party at for all eternity.

Re: Evolution v. Creation
Who cares about how the world is created, were living presently okay? I dont think it matters how we began but avoiding the way how we are going to be destroyed, so dont worry about dinosaurs and who we evolved from, but were are going to get out of this shit whole world we are in now, we are bringing our new generation into a world of hurt and they will not survive if we keep polluting and start wars that we cannot win...think of the future and present rather than the past

Re: Evolution v. Creation
What alot of people focus on is the story the Bible gives us when if you actually talk to someone who has studied tha bible they'll tell you that the story is just that a story, it gives us beings an understanding of how the Lord did what he did, not necessarily in that time or in that fashion but it's sort of the Bibles condensed history of the universe put in a language that we'll be able to understand

Bill has a good point, but i dont think it is worth praying to any god of what ever religion you believe in because it does no good, i dont think a higher power says when our society is on the high side or low side because it is what we do and our actions and we have to take the effects not the higher powers, we have to solve our own problems not him
