It's basically the theory of evolution, but there's some different things like there was a supernatural force that helped us evolve or at least that some sort of supernatural force exists. Supernatural can mean a lot of things for example extraterrestrials, god or anything in that sense.

I havn't met anyone other than 30 year olds who live in their parents basements (pardon the cliche) who believes this, so why do why all seem to care?

Wow, this old debate.

I believe in evolution, and that God created the Earth.

If you were asking the more specific question: How did we get here; Big Bang or Creation? Both really start out as nothing, or something that has had no beginning that eventually formed the Earth. And I put my beliefs in God.
