Evolution v. Creation
Okay, I'm interested in knowing what you guys think. Was God our creator, or was it the big bang and all that stuff? (i.e. evolution)

Re: Evolution v. Creation
I don't believe in the whole 'God created the world in seven days' I think it's such a laughable idea. Science has shown us how the world was created and I believe them.
But then again although I'm not Religious (anymore) I still believe in a higher being of somesort. It's hard when both beliefs conflict - prehaps God created the Big Bang?

Whence this creation has arisen – perhaps it formed itself, or perhaps it did not – the one who looks down on it, in the highest heaven, only he knows -or perhaps he does not.

I am an atheist, but why seperate God from the big bang and evolution. There are lots of theist that believe in God along with all that science has taught us of our universe.

Yep, science can confirm faith if analyzed so.

According to Anas ibn Malik, when God's Messenger said, 'Help your brother, irrespective of whether he is the
oppressor or the oppressed,' a man said, 'O Messenger of God, I can help the
oppressed, but how can I help the oppressor?' The Prophet replied, 'Stop him from committing an act of oppression. That in itself is a form of help.'

Actually, designer jeans began evolving way back in the middle of the 20th century. This is important.

Re: Evolution v. Creation
You can't really say that you believe the earth is X000 years old and all creatures were created by intelligent design without also suggesting that either the substantial and increasing evidence for evolution was place there by God as a ruse, or that the entire scientific community is secretly convening to hide the Real Truth. Which is all well and good, but it's worth noting that intelligent design's premise inherently requires an incredible amount of very specific religious faith.
That being said, evolution doesn't necessarily presuppose the big bang theory; or I should say that the origins of the universe are not included in the theory of evolution. I don't pretend to understand the scientific multitudes proposed in the big bang theory and therefore I can't honestly defend it. Anyway...my point is that someonce can acknowledge evolution and really still believe in most modern interpretations of God/Gods, if that's what does it for them.

Re: Evolution v. Creation
Creationism and Evolution can coexist easilly, unless people interpret the Bible litterally, then.....Noah's Ark is a problem, 50,000 species of animal x 2, one small ark. Earth.....7 days. C'mon! The Gene pool starting with one man and one woman......nope.
So you see, it's not God, it's not evolution. It's the Qoran, The Bible, etc...supposedly devine text penned by man causes the problems when stupid humans think they've been blessed to have the true word of God.
Be humble, it's obvious to any rational human being that we don't understand a lot, probably because God thinks were not ready, and because we can't define him/it...who even knows if God is something that cares. Just have faith that all will be revealed in it's time and don't try to tell other how to be.

Re: Evolution v. Creation
I insist that God could not have created the Universe, as it violates the laws of Physics for the Universe to even have been created in the first place. No, the Universe is just one of an infinity of universes floating in a soupy 11-dimensional multiverse (M-Theory, look it up). The universe itself has existed for a finite amount of time and has a finite amount of space, but space-time has always existed and will always exist, long after this Universe and all life in it is gone.
