NO, I hear ya there. This is one of the few taxes that I actually support though. It goes 100% to the local school district. Lack of government funding, which I support, means that the community will have to financially support the local schools. Leave the choices up to us. I support these types of taxes.

Well when you put it that way so do I, now get the US Dept of Education off your back and your making a difference. I am all for local control of the schools, it is the only way the parents have any real significant input.

I agree. That goes back partly to the whole point of this thread. Issues such as this arise and people belive that the process is a fair representation of local democracy in action. When, in fact, if they aren't sure whether you will support it you may not even find out about it!! Or when as a team you come up with a plan, then local leaders who are a part of that team spinoff and do their own thing fucking up the whole plan. Then, others are too weak to speak out against them and when the whole plan fails these so called leaders are heralded for their efforts when in fact they are more often than not the reason they failed!!

Well you said that you will run for a position on your school board. That is great, do not make the mistake about letting the race be about you but about your opponents record.
The voters only care about that and you stay on the offensive, now as part of your campaign coordination staff I will expect a check in the mail.

They say "all politics is local" but to be honest, I think local politics suck. It's gets really dirty. I really admire you for even trying.

Re: small town politics
It's hard, in a small town, to try to get involved especially when you disagree with those the town highly regards because you put yourself out their to be blackballed and your chances of having even job security goes way down especially because you might piss of everybody's cousin... But good luck if you don't get elected there Weimar's below par we need a revolution of sorts...

Re: small town politics
You know I was thinking, when I was younger, I was always one to question authority. I mean I would do it tactfully and respectfully, but if something did not seem right I would bring it up. As a late teen and young man that garnished me a lot of respect and I had a lot of supporters. Fast forward fifteen years to my mid thirties. I haven't changed, I am still the same guy questioning authority. But the trend I notice now, is that people are afraid to jump ship. They are afraid of the repercussions. The same supporters I had when I was younger will leave me hangin out to dry now. People are scared to be in the minority, even if the minority is correct. I think that is the case all over now. Fear of repercussion has led people (I'm not saying all) to side with the majority, right or wrong.

Re: small town politics
thats cause when you're my age its alot more fun to rebel than to think of consequences, although i have seen the trend in my friends that i'll make an argument in class and see bodylanguage of classmates that appears that i've made them uncomfertable because they know it's not what the teacher belives... i geuss what i'm tryin to say is when they are taught what they're supposed to think they become pussies
