ok!
In our genetic memory we hold rythmns of ancient african drums. These were for communication/etc but now are for enjoyment. I'll take a long shot guess that there is something like an subconsious message with these rythmns in our brains....But other species enjoy music also. our dogs get exited when we play it for example. So something is going on!...I just dont know how it relates to continuing the species...
now if you excuse me ill go kick myself

hahah.
well I have another question:
why do some people have a belief in God that is almighty, ever powerful, while others believe in a God that takes human forms?
(Essentially, why do some believe in monotheism while others believe in polytheism)

interesting...
could we be purging our subsoncious (i use this word a lot) knowledge of lifes rythmns/tunes to convert them into music. That way we "create" something from nothing sort of. I dont know....
I myself am a musician (I play Piano, Guitar, and Trumpet but I'm not bragging. I also play in a little garrage band with friends for fun. I study under my Grandmother and Prof. Michael Tunnel from the University of Lousiville) and love the thrill of music. Creating beautifull music (and awsome rock!!!!!! go Ac/Dc) is like cocaine to me. Addicting like hell. So perhaps this is a mystery than wont be solved, perhaps not.

Well, im not sure this falls into a behavioral category, however I shall try to find a reason....
if we were to concider Tabula Rasa and that we start with a clean sheet (which has been all but proven false) it would be easy to say. So say we have a paper memory half full. Based of experience in our lives we come to a judgement on the topic which differs on experience.
Also, parentage effects us if our parents brainwash us at early age we believe that what they say is law

Humans have a disposition towards unquestioning obedience, which manifests today as a propensity towards religious belief.
From an evolutionary standpoint, there's some sense to this. Consider two people, each of whom are instructed by a village elder to NOT eat a particular kind of berry. No reasons are given for the edict; merely the instruction. The truth is that the berry is poisonous. However, the "rule" has been in place for generations no, and no one can remember anyone having violated the rule.
Those that lack the disposition to follow rules blindly are more likely to experiment by violating the rules. And those people are less likely to reproduce. Therefore, those that are willing to blindly follow laws are more likely to reproduce.
As we evolved, we became smarter, and we developed methods of discerning danger without putting ourselves at needless risk. The disposition towards following rules started to atrophy. To preserve the trait, super-authorities were invented, complete with their own list of rules to be followed without question.
Most rules based in religion - including traditions - serve one of two purposes... Either they warn people away from potential dangers (such as those concerning diet, or social behaviors), or they reinforce the behavioral importance of following rules without question (repetitive prayers or chants, threats and promises concerning the afterlife).

I too am a musician playing some of the same instruments and I've heard all kinds of stuff concerning music and why people like certain types or why we even like it at all.
One thing is it brings on emotions and that is quite significant. I've heard people noting that a person who does not like music at all also does not like to feel emotions. Music sort of forces an emotion on you and depending on how it does it, through tear dropping perspectives to assaults on your senses, most people find their flavor.
Plus you can't turn your ears off. I can close my eyes, I can shut my mouth, I can not touch something but I always hear something. I'm like a shark who can't sleep.

We bloody do not.
We hold an affinity, even an appreciation of rhythms, just as our ancestors did thousands of years ago. That's why they enjoyed drums. But the invention of drums was the result of musical appreciation; not a cause. We do not have "genetic memories" of ancient drums.
