Actually, only 25% graduate in Detroit. How frickin' sad is that?

However, I agree. The conservative plan sucks, the liberal plan sucks. I say chuck them both. You have way too many education dollars being spent on governing schools. You have local, city, county, state, and federal education departments. how much of this crap goes to paying administrators? It's ridiculous. I say set a federal standard for all students with a small oversight group, get rid of all the administrators in between, lower class size and fucking make kids sit in their seats and learn.

I used to sell Science Curriculum to Cleveland Public Schools about 10 years ago. That district was an experiement to see what happens when you have 1 computer per student loaded with all the latest software. Unfortunatly not much changed.
Oh and nobody in educational sales knows what the Federal Dept of Education does.

Parents have to quit sending their fucked up horror story of a brat to school that they failed to parent properly and wanted to be their friend instead. Because now, in order to get the class taught....guess who has the to the parenting type discipline.

Now, hats off to you parents who send good non brat kids in school because if it wasn't for them, there would be more school shootings only teachers would be shooting. Teachers aren't perfect but they work for peanuts putting up with attitude all day. Teachers in our society should make as much as Lawyers.

Being a resident of Michigan, one of the things that really piss me off about this, is that up north where I live we get about $7500 per student from the state. The Detroit area schools get about $12,500 per student from the state. We have the same expectations, yet are funded differenetly and even with all that extra money they are still failing the kids. Send that money up here where we graduate 85%.
