Davis - I know at least 3 Canadian cities with rabid fan bases that would gladly cut off their arms for an NHL team.

And yet they wait in vain while Columbus Ohio.... OHIO.... twiddles away theirs in front of empty seats and a local population that ranks hockey somewhere under water-polo and para-bowling.

Grrrrrrr.....

Don't get me started on Carolina, Tampa Bay, Florida, Nashville, Dallas, Atlanta.....

It's a sad but true thing that a team can make millions more losing in Georgia than they could winning in Winnipeg or Quebec City or Hamilton.

Have you thought about seeing an eye doctor? You as you start to get old they say your sight is one of the first things to go.

(I usually can't see the damn thing either)

I want to know why they let the players beat the shit out of one another and the only time somebody gets called for anything is if there is a puddle of blood on the ice? They just skate around smackin each other with those sticks and driving people into the walls. Just doesn't seem terribly sportsmanlike if you ask me.

See and I find basketball and soccer endlessly frustrating. The attacker gets a shot off and the defender gets a whistle for TRYING TOO HARD TO STOP HIM!!!!!

Isn't that his job? If the guy coming toward me has the ball and is going to try to score... isn't slamming him into a wall and trying to knock him down on his ass the entire idea of why I'm paid to be here? How can I stop him if I'm not allowed to touch him? I just don't understand.

Letting the other team score a hundred points because you're not allowed to put your hands on them or elbow them in the chops.... how can they even call themselves professionals? It's like telling a Pastor not to mention religion.

It's like telling the pizza guy "no cheese please".

It just doesn't make sense to me.

BTW - Chris Pronger is off from his suspension for stomping on Ryan Kessler's ankle with his skate. He actually tried to deliberately sever a guy's foot... and he's back in time for the playoffs. Now tell me how baseball players are athletes again?

I mean you're carrying a bat.... USE IT!

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

I dunno man, I love soccer too as much as I love hockey. But I also love watching baseball, football, and basketball and even F1.

In soccer, the focus on the game is supposed to be on the ball. However, some moments call for elastic and inelastic collisions that can't be avoided. There's supposed to be contact, but on a minimal level. The trick to stopping the player is stopping the ball movement which takes a hell of a lot of skill. Hence why ball carriers can do wonders when moving the ball downfield.

In all fairness... withthe size of most NBA and NFL players .... if they punched each other they would probably die.

I'm pretty amped, Boston making the playoffs wasn't a certainty untill a few games ago, now I'm ready for Thursday night baby. I've got my Molsen, my flanel shirt, and I'm working on growing a mullet. Fuck yeah!

That's real conversation for your ass.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about the Wings either until about January.

Still, the ritual is always fun.

NY/NJ will be good and so will Anaheim/Dallas.

My coworkers all seem convinced that Minnisota is going to take the West. I told them I hoped the team plane crashed and they were too mangled to play.

For some reason they found that excessive and little scary.

I've decided I'll cheer for Montreal. Calgarians and Vancouverites - much like Serbs and Bosnians or Armenians and Azerbaijanis - are mortal enemies forced together by geography, and Ottawa, God love them, don't have much hope.

I'm glad you're excited about Boston, Sparta. I hope all 4 games they get to play are just great.
