Policy and Rules (all threads, all categories):

1. Insulting, rude, or offensive posts are not allowed. If the PH staff feels that you are a disruption to healthy debate your posting privileges may be restricted or revoked.

2. Racism will not be tolerated. If it is believed that your agenda is to promote hate your privileges may be revoked.

3. Disrespecting an Administrator, Moderator, or Super moderator will lead to administrative actions. If you have an issue that you feel needs the attention of the PH staff, please use the PM function.

4. Abuse of the reputation system is not allowed. The reputation system is designed to voice an opinion based on a particular post, if the staff feels that you are leaving reputation for another member that is meant to insult, or personally attack, then you will be subject to moderator action. "Rep Bombing" is prohibited.

5. Abuse of the Private Messaging system is a violation of the rules, all PM traffic is covered by the same rules that apply to public posting.

6. Spamming is not allowed. If you post a link, you must include a brief description of the link in your post.


Policy and Rules Toward Racism:

The above quote is taken from the posted rules governing membership accountability at Political Hotwire.

It seems that there is some misunderstanding surrounding the interpretation of this rule, and we (the PH staff) have discussed our feelings regarding how this rule should be interpreted.

1. We feel that comments relating to race whether they be positive, negative, or neutral, are not automatic grounds for action.

2. We feel that comments relating to race may be considered ignorant while at the same time fail to meet the criteria needed to be judged "promotional".

An example of the two previous statements would be: "The black community has brought hardship on themselves through their own actions".

3. If we feel that your agenda is to spread, or promote hate or racism then your privileges may be revoked.

An example of the previous statement would be: "White people should not breed with other races in order to keep a pure race of Anglo heritage".

The distinction is important, because the point of the rule is not to penalize for ignorance, the point is to deny a voice to hate.

We feel strongly that people who's agenda is to promote hate should not be given a platform at PH to spread their ideology, we also feel strongly that people shouldn't be censored, and we will continue to do our best to balance the two ideals.

We also feel that the best way to combat ignorance is to present an honest counterpoint cemented in fact, calling a member a racist because they posted an opinion on race, that you may not agree with, is considered an insult and does not contribute to healthy dialog. As always, insults will be acted on by the mods appropriately.


Rant and Rave Policy and Rules:

1- What is said in this forum stays here and can not be used in any other part of the board. In other words, do not repeat or use references to anything posted in this forum.

3 - No race or color related attacks

4 - No porn

5 - No external links

6 - Do not link to this forum from another forum on the board.

7- Attacks on members will only be acceptable when the member being targeted agrees to exchange. A member who wishes to exchange in a "flame thread" may accept participation by notifying a mod in the first post. If a thread goes 24 hours without the "targeted member" accepting, then the thread will be automatically closed. Members aside from the "target" may not post in that thread until it has been accepted by the "targeted member". All threads that do not follow these guidelines will be closed.

The "targeted member" may decide whether the thread will be a one on one exchange or an all inclusive in which every member is welcome to participate.

8- Members may not use Rant & Rave to attack Moderators based on action taken, that is a private issue between members and the staff. Members are free to include mods in the flame threads based on non mod duties. Members who can not participate due to limited access will be protected by the staff, and will not be called in to flame threads.

Failure to abide by any of these rules will be met with Administrative action.
