Bowerbird, tell ya what, you buy into Al's scare tactics, you pay for the air you breathe, (help fill Als coffers even more) if it makes you feel that you're contributing to the betterment of the world. I'll take bonifide scientis words for it, of which several have said Als claims are bunk.

Migi - I will tell you what - I will put MY ability to critique science against yours and see who comes out on top? I am game - pick a peer reviewed article and discuss it.

Meantime see the post I just finished on the debate thread - and try to remember that global climate change is not about Al Gore - he is only of peripheral interest to me because personally I would rather believe some of the people who are in the business every day - and NOT the 60 odd scientists (out of thousands world wide) who form the core of the oil bought sceptics.

As I said before what REALLY peeves me about those "sceptics" is the fact that they are not honest. I think the prime example of the dishonesty is the scam pulled by the "Oregon Institute".

They misquote, they fudge, they misrepresent and in all have zero credibility, which they then claim is because they are being "persecuted" for speaking out against global warming

I'm seeing a shift in ideology in the US from left and right to progressives and flat-earthers who doubt any science that bodes any fundamental change in conventional wisdom. Why else would their defense be so emotional and personally directed?

Madam, YOU are calling Al Gore a liar. "Scientists" also say that Al Gore DOES know what he's talking about, yet you reject it out of hand and question his integrity without any evidence of deceit. Wrong? maybe (I think he's right). But to call him a liar because you don't agree with him...well, we all know what that means.

yes, good post. the people that tend to be so offended when their truthfullness is questioned are also the ones that accuse others of the same thing the most.

disagree with al gore all day long. i probably don't agree with him. but short of a closed door meeting with him that proves it, or seeing into his inner thoughts somehow, only an idiot could call him a liar.
