If you got Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Barca, Real, the Milans and a few other clubs playing together, funding from sponsorship would be no problem at all. It would probably ruin the national leagues, but your scenario relies on the players agreeing to a wage cap to help their national leagues survive; over the alternative of continued absurd wages playing in by far the best league in the world. You could be a bit optimistic. The sponsorship and TV rights would only be lost by smaller clubs.

I was exuberant when Portsmouth knocked them out. One Premiership team left in the final four, and it's Portsmouth - what a result! If only Cardiff had won (though there were rumours they would've been denied their place in Europe, same as Birmingham was a few years ago).

I might watch soccer when you guys stop using words such as exuberant to describe the emotion you feel when your team wins. Youre supposed to be wicked retarded over a win, not exuberant.

Well, you might have liked how John Terry cried and cried and cried. (I only watched the penalty shots.)

Birmingham were just forbidden their place because they weren't a Premiership side. With Cardiff, the FA has said they would not nominate a team that's not from England to represent England in European competition (Cardiff is in Wales, but the Welsh league is just laughable). They claimed it was against the rules, but this is a clear lie - seeing as Cardiff already played in the Cupwinners cup in the 60s; and Monaco regularly qualify for Europe from the French league, despite not being in France.

It's all a bit irrelevant now, though.

Sparta - I'm not a typical football fan; but in your presence in future I will recall to use more traditional phrases like 'fucking well made up'. I'm steering clear of wicked retarded though - doesn't have the right aesthetic.

What a year!
They got sooooo lucky here. Chelsea overshot an open net in the last kick in the shootout which would have given them the win. I guess thats why they play the game. I watched the two extra periods and the shootout, it was very exciting. Except for the announcers. I would find it more exciting if they didn't talk.

For example

If Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal decided they are against the transfer and wage caps (and I don't see why would they be against it) and break away from FA that would mean the end of premiership.
That would mean end of huge number of sponsor deals and TV rights for those same clubs and FA.
If they decided they wanted to form a new CL that would benefit the clubs immensely since it's the richest clubs in Europe that made CL what it is. What would happen is that the player will go on strike (like NBA lockout in 1999) but since being professional athletes is what they do, and there's scores of them in the world, they would be forced to agree with UEFA and FA of each country.

There would be little or no backlash if it was to be tried. The problem is Sep Blater, president of FIFA.
Platini is trying to reform UEFA and make this game about football, not money, again but Blater is holding him back at every turn.

Blater is trying to push through a rule that would enable players to leave as many clubs during the saeson they want.
I know. I wasn't saying that they should be paid less or something, I was simply dsicribing one of the factors that in my opinion heleped Barça to misserably sink this year in the spanish league.

I agree. Chelsea deserved to win, totally (I watched the whole match)

We're a simple folk from England, with a simple language. 'Fucking' will do for 70-80% of all adjectives and adverbs. To be made up means to be exceedingly satisfied with the outcome of something. I think it's mostly a North-West England / North Wales phrase. I lived in Liverpool for about 4 years. A few other exclamations of glee:

'That's well fucking sound, that is'
'I'm fucking chuffed wi' that'
'Aye, that's fucking barry.'
