A Question To Other Veterans
I had spoken to a soldier who served with me as a peacekeeper in Bosnia. He brought up the idea of returning to Srebrencia, Bosnia to visit again. We both had provided security for the families of the victims who died in the worst massacre in Europe since World War II. It has changed quite a bit since we were there from what my comrade told me. They now have taken the dead and buried them in what is now a cemetary and have a memorial to commermerate the victims who died during the Srebrencia massacre. If I were to return to Bosnia (and I would certainly make a special trip to Srebrencia), I would make this trip about the people of Bosnia, to show my respects to the surivors and the dead of Bosnia's genocide. To apologize to the people of Bosnia for what happenned and how the world responded during those times. We all share a responsibility for our inaction when genocide takes place and we chose to ignore it. I am aware that at times, Vietnam veterans return to Vietnam long after American involvement during the Vietnam War was over. I am curious, how do such trips get organized?
