Euro 2008!!
It's an even numbered year, which means we have football in the summer!* Do they show it on American TV? I suppose most of you are at work while the games are being played.
Predictions and thoughts from anyone? Having watched them against Poland, I have to agree on Germany as the favourites (although Poland played much better than I expected, I can easily see them qualifying over Croatia now).
Holland were also much more convincing yesterday than I thought before the tournament - Sneijder's goal was a work of genius. With France providing such a lacklustre performance and Romania clearly determined to keep 10 men back and defend to the hilt; I'm coming round to the idea that both Italy and France could fail to make it to the quarter finals, which would ruin my accumulator but entertain me greatly.
I've lost a lot of hope in the Czech Republic. While I still think they'll qualify over Turkey, that's about as far as they're going to go. Kollar alone does not a strikeforce make. They still have a chance to do well, but I think the team needs some fresh blood before they'll be a serious challenger to win anything - they're all so old!
Prediction for tonight: Sweden-Greece will be the dullest game of the tournament.
*Okay, so for most people on this board you play your regional tournaments on odd-numbers, but then who gives a shit about the Concacaf cup? Watching the USA and Mexico repeatedly beat a load of crappy Caribbean nations is not my idea of entertainment.

Very much so - I've only heard of about 4 of their starting lineup as well. They've already won the group now, so if they rest their best players and take it easy, letting Romania win, that means the World Champions and runners up, the European Champions and (probably) both host nations will all be out before the second round.

Re: Euro 2008!!
Wow I'm currently watching Netherlands vs Russia and it's a fantastic game, it's a shame to see either country get knocked out. After a 1-4 loss vs Spain and a mediocre 1-0 win over Greece, the russians were the underdog before the final group stage game vs Sweden, they played really well and won 2-0 but the swedes were butchered by media back home for letting this happen. Seeing Russia as the somewhat better team against the so far outstanding dutch puts it all in a different light. The winner of this game will be my favourite for the title.

Re: Euro 2008!!
Is this the thing Turkey is playing in? There were guys driving around with Turkish flags flying out of their car and a guy with a Turkish flag hat jumped in front of traffic to high five the guys in the car. It was weird.

In the wild, there is no healthcare. In the wild healthcare is 'Ow, I hurt my leg. I can't run. A lion eats me, and I'm dead.' Well, I'm not dead. I'm the lion. You're dead.
