Re: Information on Energy Saver Bulbs
All flourescent bulbs have mercury in them. You'd be surprised how many people don't know that. I didn't myself until a couple of years ago.

Re: Information on Energy Saver Bulbs
The average CFL bulb has less mercury (5mg) than the battery inside your wristwatch (25mg).

The head of the Environmental Protection Agency program concedes that not enough has been done to urge people to recycle CFL bulbs and make it easier for them to do so. .. . . She says that even though fluorescent bulbs contain mercury, using them contributes less mercury to the environment than using regular incandescent bulbs. That's because they use less electricity — and coal-fired power plants are the biggest source of mercury emissions in the air.

Excellent, now factor in:
1) A modern CFL bulb will last longer than a modern wristwatch battery.
2) CFL bulbs manufactured today have far less mercury than those manufactured a few years ago.
3) All major lightbulb manufacturers are pursuing ways to minimize or eliminate mercury use. Therefore, CFL bulbs manufactured in 2012 will have far less mercury than those manufactured today.
Factor in these tidbits, and you'll see why CFLs are nothing short of an energy-saving miracle. At least, until LED bulbs are affordable and available.

What are you talking about? CFLs are recyclable. Furthermore, many incandescent bulbs, which are NOT recyclable, use lead solder.

Recyclable? If every thing that was recyclable was recycled, do you think the landfills would be so full?
A lot of solder these days is lead free, not all but a lot.
