Cheney says Democrats on 'destructive path' in trade
Quote:
|
Vice President Dick Cheney Wednesday slammed Democrats in Congress and running for president for opposing free trade agreements and leading the country down a "very destructive path" to protectionism.
|
Article here..............
NAFTA and other so called "Free Trade" agreements are a source of trouble for this country. Hell the WTO says backing out would hurt, I agree, it would hurt the agenda for a one world economy. Thats a good thing!

Re: Cheney says Democrats on 'destructive path' in trade
The Democrats have been on a destructive path in trade. Bill Clinton signed NAFTA with Republican congressional support. They're all the same and are screwing over America.
|
If the bulk of the public were really convinced of the illegitimacy of the State, if it were convinced that the State is nothing more nor less than a bandit gang writ large, then the State would soon collapse to take on no more status or breadth of existence than another Mafia gang.

Free trade is a risk, but overall free trade agreements are good.

You got that backwards. Free trade can be good, but overall free trade agreements are BAD news, big-time.

I was all for NAFTA when it was intstituted. Now, it's become quite obvious to me that it was a mistake. I say repeal it and start over.
Oh, and for Dick Cheney to give advice about the economy would be the same as Jeff Dahmer giving vegetarian recipes. Niether one obviously knows jack about what they are babbling about.

Free trade agreements are just agreements for "free trade" which is just trade with limited barriers. If you don't support most free trade agreements then that isn't supporting free trade, overall.

Governments don't need to sign any 'agreement' for there to be free trade. NAFTA and such are managed trade agreements.

In my opinion.
NAFTA was supposed to stem the tide of illegal immigration and provide America with cheap labor to farm out some of it's production while opening up a market to us. Several slight problems. Huge American companies bought up farms in Mexico, as the land was cheap, the labor was cheap, and there were no environmental issues to worry about. This pushed literally hundreds of thousands of small farmers out of business, and unemployment in Mexico went up. What were these people to do? There was no jobs available.
As for the farming out of unskilled labor, rather than companies continue to expand, they simply closed up shop here and moved there. Instant boost to the company bottom line, bad for our unskilled workers.
It opened up a few markets full of very poor people to us, who could afford to be very little of our goods.
