Re: Any cyclists here?
You thinking about carbon fiber? I haven't ridden one, I'd imagine it would kick your ass but it has to be an easier ride than aluminum.

Re: Any cyclists here?
I got a Mongoose last year, not a department store mongoose, a Mongoose built Mongoose. It's a mountain bike with full suspension. I like the disk brakes. I got it cause my old hardtail was gettin' a little rough on my personal soft tail. Great investment, I trail ride with my kids. I used to ride off-road constantly but got away from it when we started a family, now the kids are getting old enough so I have rediscovered riding and roller hockey and all the other stuff I used to do, soon I will introduce them to golf and trap shooting!!

Dude, you play roller hockey? That's rad. I just picked it up with some friends, have a great time. We only have five though, hit me up the next time you decide to vacation in south eastern Connecticut.

You should think about getting fitted at a shop and then test ride a few. See what you like before picking something else up. Or talk to 2lane about his setup, he seems to know his junk.

Yeah, i played ice hocky growing up, started playing roller hockey when I moved to the East coast. I got a new set of skates last year they are K2 soft boot skates with an exo skeleton, beat the hell out of poly boot skates for comfort and flex. My oldest is 11 and my youngest is 7, and I got one in between, they saw pix of me from before thay were born riddin' motorcycles and playing hockey and cycleing, etc. and realized their old dad was not jive at all, now they wanna do all that stuff, it's awsome. I'll talk to the wife about vacation in Conn, she'll love it.

Re: Any cyclists here?
Oh I can see it now. "Hey honey bunny, wouldn't it be romantic and beautiful to see the the fall foliage in CT? We could visit the Amistad, see how tall ships were constructed, shop along the waterfront, mingle with the rich people for a few days, and eat at Mystic Pizza?.......Why am I packing my skates, oh, no reason".

Laugh while you can, Monkey boy. Those are the kind of trips we take, all of our vacations of late involve bringing kayaks, fishing gear, bikes, skates pucks and sticks, baseball gloves, model rockets and airplanes. It's an f'ing nightmare to pack for vacation. I have a cap on my truck, the kayaks (belong to my sons) go on top, everything else goes in the back and the bikes go on a carrier on the bumper. Five sets of everything (but only 2 kayaks). Then we drive for 5 hours to a lake in Western Maryland for a week or so. It's a blast.

As for the 105's, I think they are fine. I can not see upgrading because of the price involved. A good friend of mine told me right when I was getting into this that it's way too easy to fall into the name brand trap in this sport.

Yes, yes, yes. I was just being faux snobby and facetious in my first post. 105 is really decent stuff, really. No need to upgrade. For most of us who have raced a little and have ridden a lot longer, money should be spent on wheels (rims and hubs). That will give you the best ride for the buck. Even then don't worry about top of the line, decent is good enough. Unless you're racing professionally or trying to become a professional you'll never get the use top of the line can give so don't waste the money.

I heard it was a good idea to eat baked beans and then take an early lead, your thoughts on this advice?
