How many of you would want to be a teen again?
I wish I had a quid for every adult who has told me that this is the best time of my life, and said something like "Oh to be that young again!" (While simultaneously preventing me from doing just about everything I want to. )
Is this just making social noises, or does anyone actually think being a minor doesn't suck?
My opinion is that childhood and teenage are a huge waste of time. It is also a time of being controlled by anyone who wants to, having very few rights, and too many zits.
So why do so many 'grown-ups' look at it through those rose-tinted glasses?

I would give anything to be in the 19-22 range. Those were the best. 16-17 was fresh and new and exciting. I would give anything to have those emotions again.

In the wild, there is no healthcare. In the wild healthcare is 'Ow, I hurt my leg. I can't run. A lion eats me, and I'm dead.' Well, I'm not dead. I'm the lion. You're dead.

Adults have just as many walls holding them in as teens do. Just different kinds of walls. Being a teen again has more to do with doing the "right things" with regards to the future. Sure I had plenty of fun as a teen. But I, like many adults, would want to go back and erase the stupidity with which I and other teens operated under. To be honest it is a wonder I am alive to type this post, given the dangerous situations I often seemed to find myself in as a teen.

Re: How many of you would want to be a teen again?
I did enjoy most of my teen years, but I wouldn't want to go back. I like my life better now. I am more sure of myself, and my aspirations.
I have to disagree that our childhood and teenage years are a waste of time. How would we learn anything? Those years play an important role in who we become as adults. We learn through what we live, and all of our experiences affect us in some way...both the good and bad.

The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without
knowing how it happened ~

The world is different now, and for that reason I wouldn't want to go back. The things 'kids' did back then that you had to apologize for and fix you actually get charges and court action now. Its just not right.

Haha. I got arrested twice when I was 17. And my town printed every arrest in the newspaper. My boyfriend's father loved that!

I've had this same thought growing up but now that I'm grown up I have to say, the grass is indeed always green on the other side.

I don't think the teen years were a waste of time, but then a root canal isn't a waste of time either. I wouldn't go back to being a teen for anything in the world. With all the responsibility and hassles it's still far, far better being an adult. I'm nearly 60 and my life is better now than at any other time.

I'm looking forward to the cantankerous, cynical old bastard years actually.
Too many drugs, too many women probs as a youth.
