Best/Favorite Video Games?
You can either post the ones you think are the best, or ones that you simply liked the most.
The best video game ever made, in my opinion, would have to be The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
This game featured a story that wasn't necessarily the best, but was solid and simple and kept your attention.
It featured colorful graphics featuring lush and huge expanses. The world of Hyrule was so realistic that it seemed as if you were really there.
The main thing about this game that drew me in was the exploration. Whether it was experiencing the hustle and bustle of Castle Town, traversing through treacherous Death Valley, or exploring the mysterious Lost Woods, nothing was ever boring.
And of course, there was also the music, which was very epic and great to listen to.

Re: Best/Favorite Video Games?
Other contenders for best game, to me, are Resident Evil 4, Final Fantasy 7, Halo 1, and Half Life 2.
Resident Evil 4- While not necessarily as scary as it's predecessors, it featured an interesting story, great voice-acting, highly intelligent AI, a great atmosphere, and most importantly, intense gameplay that never lets up.
FF7- Amazing story with themes of power, terrorism, corporate corruption, and religion.
Halo 1: Decent story, great AI, AMAZING multiplayer, excellent level design, fun weapons and vehicles, and fantastic voice acting.
Half Life 2- Quite possibley one of the most fascinating stories out of any video game that isn't Final Fantasy. Highly beleivable voice acting, excellent phsyics-based combat and puzzles, frighteningly intelligent AI, great lip-syncing of the characters, highly realistic graphics, especially faces which feature a wide range of beleivable emotions.
If I hadn't picked Zelda, Half Life 2 would be my choice for greatest game.

So what's a good old PS1 game I can go buy used next time I have $15 bucks I don't desperately need?

Well, you won't find many in stores since they don't carry PS1. You'll have to look online.
What kind of games do you play? RPG?

Re: Best/Favorite Video Games?
Anything from Blizzard has pretty much always been good - Starcraft, Diablo, Diablo 2, Warcraft.
Counterstrike.
The Battlefield series (except for Vietnam)
SimCity (the older series were always fun)
Fifa from EA.
The old Command & Conquer series.
Ghost Recon was a classic - used to play this with my 2 other roomates; both were hardcore military. It was good times setting up strategies and trying to take down the enemy without losing one guy on our teams.
Half-Life and Half-Life 2, though I was disappointed in the ending of Half Life 2.

I remember Ghost Recon. Fun but it often got dominated by the really good players, making it not fun for the rest of us mortals.

Re: Best/Favorite Video Games?
I loved the FF series, before they screwed us over with FFX2.
Ah well.
Also enjoyed playing Neverwinter Nights, Resident Evil 4, and Assassin's Creed.

I loved Age of Empires 2. It never gets boring and its just so interesting. I just wish Microsoft would come out with a new version with better quality graphics

We have several used video game stores around here. You can pick up stuff really cheap. One place we have in the mall actually sells Atari games! Takes me back - I totally rocked at Missile Command back in the day.
I gave away my PS2 to a kid who needed it more than me, and put away the X box for the time being. PS1 games are out there used in great numbers, but I have no patience for shopping for them (or anything else for that matter). So any input would be appreciated. I've done all the Tomb Raiders, FF7 & 8, and RE 1&2.
I'll play anything except sports, although I liked Madden for a while. Not crazy about racing either. Other than that I'll play anything.
One thing I learned about buying used games though - if there is an ample supply of something on the shelf, it's usually because it sucks.

Good RPGS to get are:
Final Fantasy 7
Xenogears
Chrono Cross
Good scary games:
Resident Evil
Silent Hill (highly reccomended)
Fear Effect
Strategy:
Final Fantasy Tactics
Thats just off the top of my head but all the games I mentioned have been universally acclaimed and should entertain you for quite a while.
