I am not against unions as a whole. Having never been a part of one, I say it appears as though unions are very beneficial to its members, not necessarily so beneficial to the industry in which they serve. Unions serve a purpose, but are not always necessary.

You make a valid point, but coming from a 3rd world country, I know the benefits of the Unions. Yes most of them are corrupt and they usually only end up wrecking havoc during their protests, but in the end it gives piece of mind to their members, who have no other platform to speak out for themselves or defend their own rights from.

When the methods they use violate the rights of others, including their prospective employers.

You're not foolish enough to trust government, are you? Then think about this:
Since there isn't any corn on the cob, thanks solely to government interference, my kids have lost the freedom to eat corn on the cob on the Fourth of July this year.
What the hell kind of country are the socialists building here?

Re: The evil unions
How do all you right wingers feel about "guest workers" joining unions?

Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?

You mean "illegal aliens"? The union leaders accepting them should be deported along with the invader.
You mean legal residents? It's their freedom to choose, isn't it?

Re: The evil unions
Union membership is dying off with every union job that is lost. You can't artificially raise the price of labor without having a reciprocal economic effect.

So the government wants to make them legal, only with no rights or benefits. Next best thing to slave labor for big business. Wouldn't you just love to see them all become Teamsters, go on strike and price themselves out of a job? No jobs - no illegal immigration problem.

Where's Woody Guthrie to kick some fascist ass when we need him?
It's really almost laughable how ignorant some people are of the history of industrialization, the "Gilded" Age, and the collapse of the system in 1929.
Fools.
Good to see over 80% (according to the poll here) are not drinking Sean Insanity's Kool-Aid.

Thomas did not believe the resurrection [John 20:25], and, as they say, would not believe without having ocular and manual demonstration himself. So neither will I, and the reason is equally as good for me, and for every other person, as for Thomas. [Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason]

Re: The evil unions
Interesting that someone remembers Woody Guthrie. I would add Pete Seeger to that list as well.
History shows us what happens when there are NO unions.

The only useful purpose of a union that should be retained is liability insurance e.g if you are a teacher and are accused of assault on a student the union will cover legal costs. Otherwise unions should be disbanded!

Wow. You must be an Ayn Rand fan. And you probably don't really know the history of the labor movement--either that or you have to check under your bed every night for commies!
